Who Is Bonnie Mbuli

Bonnie is more than just a household name in South Africa: An acclaimed actress , author of best seller “Eye Bags and Dimples", radio and television host. She began her career in media and entertainment at the age of thirteen , a child star who won the hearts of South Africans across the country and continues to blaze trails as an inspiring role model, inspirational speaker and Fashion Icon.

Her influence reaches beyond South Africa: she is said to possesses a ‘talent reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn’ by the New York Times. Well-travelled, highly articulate and possessed of an agile mind, Bonnie carries herself with an elegance, grace and élan evident to all. She is frequently on the cover of South Africa's glossiest magazines and continues to feature on the many current and popular radio and television shows.

This multi-talented performer is also a skilled MC for high-profile events, and her voice – a velvety alto – is much in demand as a voice-over artist. She recently joined the cast of the highly anticipated BBC One series “Noughts and Crosses”, in the role of Jasmine Hadley.

Known for her reputable work in film and television, Soweto-born Actress, Businesswoman, and Media Personality, Bonnie Mbuli, continues to blaze trails as an inspiring role model. She first won the hearts of South Africans at the tender age of 13-years-old when she was cast on a television series titled Viva Families. Mbuli went on to grace the screens of multiple local and international productions, but it was her lead role in the hit soapie, Backstage, that placed her in the forefront and later went on to play Portia in the popular series Gazlam.

 

Bonnie’s career in film continued to grow exponentially in the years to come. She was cast in the ground-breaking series, The Philanthropist for NBC – a prime time American drama. She also played Zindzi Mandela in Clint Eastwood’s film, Invictus about Nelson Mandela, starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon. But it was in 2012 when Mbuli expanded her reach and established herself as a best-selling Author of her autobiography, Eyebags & Dimples. This tremendously candid book recalls the intricate journey that her life has taken her on and has gone to inspire many South African women.

Today, Bonnie’s influence spans far beyond South Africa: she is said to possess a ‘talent reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn’ by the New York Times. As a Presenter on one of the country’s most watched television shows, Afternoon Express, Mbuli’s elegance and ethereal personality has established her as the quintessential soul-sister. She is currently a Brand Ambassador for leading dermo-cosmetic brand, Avene, and a radio host on Cape Town-based radio station, Cape Talk.
